JAPAN GUIDE

Starting a Company in Japan: A Coordination Checklist

A useful first checklist before speaking with a Japanese company-formation specialist.

About this guide

General information by the KIZUNA editorial team, not personalised legal, tax or immigration advice. Rules and forms can change.

Before the first meeting

Clarify the planned business, where you will operate, your intended company structure, who will act as director or representative, and your expected schedule. Incorporation, residence status, banking and tax registration are related but separate questions.

Documentation and registration

Japan’s Legal Affairs Bureau provides guidance on online applications for establishing a joint-stock company and the supporting documents involved. Depending on the structure and signatories, the process may require additional preparation.

Who handles what?

Company registration applications and other regulated work must be handled by those entitled to carry them out. KIZUNA can support interpretation, translation and ordinary communications under an agreed scope.

NEXT STEP

Make the next step happen.

Understand what needs to happen, who should handle each step and what the project is likely to cost. KIZUNA coordinates an agreed scope of work with independently qualified specialists.
